About Us
A family-run Labrador program with a hunter’s eye.
Green Creek exists for people who want a Labrador that can work in the field and still be the dog everyone wants in the house.
Our story
From setter to Labrador.
Our first hunting dog was an English setter. That dog sparked a love of the upland tradition, but the next step was a dog that would retrieve too, which led us to Labradors.
That experience shaped Green Creek’s lane: Labradors for families who want a hunting dog and a house dog in the same animal. We hunt upland and waterfowl, and our hope is that Green Creek dogs get meaningful work. Most hunting dogs see the field roughly 10 days per year… but are house pets 365 days per year. So the bigger goal is happy homes. A good Green Creek fit is active, honest about expectations, and excited to train a Labrador with both drive and an off switch.
Hunting drive with an off switch.
The standard we are breeding toward.
“A good Labrador has hunting drive with an off switch.”
That idea guides the breeding standard, buyer conversations, and puppy placement decisions.
Health
Clearances and genetic testing are part of the trust Green Creek needs to earn before a family brings a puppy home.
Temperament
The dog has to live well with people, children, household noise, routines, and the normal pace of family life.
Trainability
The right Labrador wants to work with you, not around you.
Hunting ability
Bird desire, retrieving instinct, and field capability are part of the promise.
Family fit
Placement matters, because the best puppy on paper is only best when the home is right.
Lifetime support
We want buyers to feel supported after go-home day, not left on their own.
